Chapter 03

Kaylee woke up in a hospital room. She hurt all over, her arms and legs were sore and her side stabbed pain into her chest when she breathed in....and when she breathed out. A tube was sticking down her throat, making her want to gag and pull it out. However her hands were tied with gauze strips to the sides of the bed, one arm had an IV trailing tubing stuck into it. In a wild panic she went through the fear that the man she had seen attacking Stacey had kidnapped her and was holding her for his, well for what ever reason and none of them were good reasons. Then Kaylee saw a nurse walk by, the nurse back pedaled when she saw Kaylee struggling and came into the hospital room.

“Sh-sh-sh, that's okay, calm down, you are safe. Just calm down a bit and I will see what I can do to help you out okay? You were in an accident and were hurt very badly. You are in a hospital right now and are safe.”, the nurse said in a soothing voice. Kaylee calmed down and nodded at the nurse, she couldn't help the tears that sprang unbidden to her eyes.

“There, there, that's okay, you will be alright.”, said the nurse putting a hand to Kaylee's head and stroking her hair gently. “You've had a bit of a start, that's all. Are you in pain?” Kaylee nodded frantically. “Okay, okay dear, I can give you a little something to dull the pain a bit, but not too much, the doctor is going to want to talk to you so I can't put you back to sleep, okay?” Again Kaylee nodded, the nurse left the room and returned a short time later with a syringe, which she injected into the IV, within moments Kaylee felt a tingly burning dullness ease up her arm and into her body, thirty seconds after that she was having a hard time remembering where she had been hurting before.

Soon the nurse was joined by an older looking man, he was maybe sixty and a younger man, who could not have been more than twenty five. They were speaking to Kaylee, their voices sounded funny, like “Whaa-whaa-whaa Kaaay-leeeeee?” Kaylee laughed and almost choked on the tubes running down her throat, the doctor then moved quickly as did the young man, removing the tape holding the tubes in place on Kaylee's face, then they looked at her and spoke her name several more times. Kaylee has just enough time to notice the nurse holding a bucket of some sort when the man pulled the tubes out of her mouth. They were very long tubes. Long tubes with what felt like a spike filled ball attached to the end of them, which was in turn attached to her intestines. The intense pain brought her back to reality quickly, and she went to reach up for her mouth to stop the torture from continuing, her hands stopped far short of her face; they were still tied to the sides of the bed.

Once the tubes were out and in the bucket, things settled down again. As the nurse cleaned off Kaylee's face and hospital gown, the doctor reprimanded her for giving 'the patient' too much pain medicine, and that was the last she heard before she drifted away to sleep once again.
